Family Support

Information and Advice

Demeter House School prides itself on offering support to the wider family as well as the individual students. We recognise that the students are a part of their wider family community and we are much better able to work with them if their family is also well supported.

Our Outreach Workers can offer a range of support strategies to our students’ families, including:

  • Information and support regarding additional benefits or funding, including help with completing the relevant paperwork or applications process
  • Access to external parenting support courses
  • Support in meetings or with student transitions
  • Signposting to external support agencies for health or care needs
  • Information regarding family activities.

Support Sessions

In addition, we also hold regular group sessions for parents and carers:

Chat & Chill – a weekly online meeting for parents and carers to meet up and chat, make friends and support each other.

Family Information Forum – Information, training and support sessions for families about key issues such as healthy eating and exercise, healthy sleep patterns, sensory circuits and other strategies that may help to improve quality of life for the whole family.

These sessions are scheduled ahead of time and details can be viewed on our website or via the Class Dojo app.

The Pantry

All families can access our school food and toiletries bank by completing the self referral form below or speaking to one of our QoL Team. The Pantry is based at the Lower School site but the Upper School site are currently setting up their own hub. We have a wide range of food, toiletries and household goods. All support parcels are handled sensitively and can be handed over discreetly. We also accept donations of non-perishable goods at any of our school sites.

Self Referral

If you are a parent or carer, you can request family support from our team by completing our self referral form. All requests are confidential and treated sensitively. Information is only shared on a need to know basis, depending on the type of support needed.
